Erik
Hanson's work exists in close proximity to music, the starting
point and basis for his paintings and sculp- tures. In all of
his works the structure of an LP (preferably from the 80's, such
as "Kraftwerk" or David Bowie) strictly dictates the structure
of his works: The number of objects or components relating to
the number of songs on the record, as well as the duration of
the song exactly represents the time spent on the creation of
each object. Each musical composition becomes visible in Hanson's
work and he applies this concept also for his sculptures. The
small white blossoms were formed during a song. Erik Hanson was
born in 1959, lives and works in Manhattan, New York.

In
Erik Hanson's Werk bildet Musik
den Ausgangspunkt und die Basis. Der Künstler schafft Werke,
die sich aus verschiedenen, sich wiederholenden Elementen zusammensetzen
und ausnahmslos an die Dauer einer Langspielplatte (vorzugsweise
Musik aus den 80iger Jahren wie diejenige von "Kraftwerk"
oder David Bowie) gebunden sind. Jede einzelne musikalische
Komposition wird in Hanson's Arbeiten sichtbar, schafft er doch
jedes dieser einzelnen Elemente während der Dauer eines
Stückes. Das Werk ist erst vollendet, wenn der Klang verhallt
ist. Die enge Relation zur Musik wird an Hanson's poetischen
Bildern und Skulpturen ablesbar. Der Künstler bleibt diesem
Konzept auch in seinen bemalten Skulpturen treu, die kleinen,
weissen Blüten werden, wie die einzelnen Komponente in
seiner Malerei, während einer Songs geformt. Erik Hanson
wurde 1959 geboren, lebt und arbeitet in Manhattan, New York.

L’œuvre
d’Erik Hanson entretient des rapports étroits avec la musique.
Celle-ci représente le point de départ et le fondement de ses
tableaux et de ses sculptures, tous liés à la durée d’un disque
33 tours (avec une prédilec- tion pour la musique des années
1980, comme celle de " Kraftwerk " ou de David Bowie). Chaque
composition musicale est visible dans les travaux de Hanson.
Ses œuvres, parfaitement cohérentes, sont pourtant compo-sées,
comme la plupart des supports sonores, de différentes pièces.
L’artiste crée des tableaux et des sculptu-res qui laissent
clairement transparaître ce concept. Erik Hanson est né en 1959,
il vit et travaille à Manhattan, New York.
